Note: This list is for informational and archive purposes - it is not a list of video I have available for trade. I can no longer do video dubbing, unfortuantely, so please do not e-mail me asking for copies of these appearances. Most, if not all, of these appearances are out there on fan-made VHS; if you are looking for an appearance, post your request to the Trading Post. Someone should be able to help you out.

Now with screencaps! Look for links to screencap galleries at the end of the synopses. Thanks to Nick!

2002

USA:

MTV2's Most Controversial Videos (4/?/02)- Andrew, being deemed a controversial artist because of the IGW cover, hosts this 4 hour special that aired 25 uncut versions of videos that were censored, aired only late at night, or banned on MTV. He does a lot of yelling and jumping, and there are more than a couple truly classic moments. This has re-run several times in the past couple of years.

TV Guide Channel Interview (4/13/02) - Short interview that aired the day of the SNL appearance. Only half screen, with tv listings scrolling underneath. Lots of clips of the Party Hard video.

Saturday Night Live (Host: The Rock) (4/13/02)- Performed "Party Hard" and "I Get Wet." There's not much to say about the performances, except they were gold. Still one of my favorite appearances. There were rumors when this first aired that Andrew did something at the end that caused NBC to cut the ending abruptly (it was pointed out that Andrew had three open water bottles in his pants - did he douse The Rock and piss him off?). As it turned out, there was no scandalous reason for the cutoff. When the show re-ran, it rolled through to the very end. Andrew jumped off the stage causing water to spray (mostly on himself), he slipped around a bit, and the band whooped it up a bit on stage with the Rock and the cast. Nothing shocking, although you have to look at Chris Kattan's face during that part. It's priceless. Also, if you can find the whole episode, the Scorpion King parody is freaking hilarious. Last Call With Carson Daly (4/17/02)- Performed "Party Hard" and "I Love NYC." Small stage and close up crowd gives it more of the feel of a real live show than most, despite the fact that, according to insiders, some real fans who showed up were pushed back by producers.

Politically Incorrect With Bill Maher (4/29/02)- Andrew was basically thrown into a shark tank with Bill Maher, Laura Ingraham, Larry Miller, and Carrie Fisher, but he never stopped smiling. The issues ranged from the Middle East to Airline security to military paternity leave during wartime. Andrew didn't get too many comments in, but at least one comment he made about the Middle East was cut, according to what he said in a Rockline Radio interview taped the same day. It was nothing censor-worthy, I'm sure it was just cut for time, but it kind of sucks because in the radio interview he said it was his favorite thing that he said on the show, and it didn't make the final cut. Oh well. Look at Carrie Fisher when Andrew rocks out in his chair. I'll never look at Star Wars the same way again.

TRL (?/?/02) - I don't think I actually have this, but I seem to remember that they did it. I think.

MTV Movie Awards Pre-Show (6/6/02) - Brief red carpet interview.

MTV Movie Awards Post-Show (6/6/02) - MTV selected a handful of people to critique the red carpet fashions for the post-show, including Andrew. The highlight, though, is during Jack Osbourne's handheld video segment, where Jack and Andrew excitedly wait for Natalie Portman to come in, and she breezes by them like they don't even exist. She later apologized to Jack, insisting that she really didn't hear him call her name, but it was pretty funny. It was exactly like that old Jon Lovitz /Tom Hanks SNL skit: "Here she comes! And theeere she goes..."

Conan O'Brien (7/11/02)- Performed "She Is Beautiful." Conan is cool because he's got the one late-night show that's had AWK on not once, but twice. To be 100% honest, I'm not crazy about this appearance compared to the others. The highlight is at the end when Andrew is sitting on the couch next to Conan with the mic in his pants, and Conan informs him, "We don't want that back, you know."

NFL Under The Helmet - AWK In house video, "We Want Fun" (10/19/02) - NFL Films showcases "The Buc's best hits, with a little help from Andrew WK." I was among the forty-odd Jersey area fans who blew off work to show up at noon on a Thursday at NFL Studios to appear as the crowd in the video. If you ever wondered what the crowd looks like at an AWK show in the Mid-Atlantic, a lot of the "regulars" showed up for this. The finished product is heavy with football footage, and of course most of the best/funniest stuff was left out, but what are you going to do? Listen for the line "we wanna get wasted" during the video - you won't hear it! A commentator is always talking during that line. Just a little trivia.

MTV's Crashing With Andrew WK (10/26/02) - This is probably the difinitive Andrew WK TV appearance, because it introduced a lot of people to the fact that underneath all that blood is a really, really nice guy. MTV expected a huge culture clash, with the scary white "rock star" invading the predominantly black university women's dormitory (Jennie, an NCCU student (and awesome photographer) who posted to the message board said that MTV was not happy at how non- confrontational the shooting was going at the time). Instead, he was excited about the new experiences like step dancing, marching band, eating chitlins, and, whoa, he liked the girls and they liked him. Memorable shot: The girls tuck a newly-cornrowed Andrew into his sleeping bag clutching a teddy bear. Click For Screencaps!

Live at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame ?/?/02 - Half hour (well, maybe 15 minutes, after commercials) of AWK's RNRHOF performance. Excellent. Kelly Osbourne duets on "She Is Beatiful." Say what you will about the Kelly O. duet - her makeup looked fabulous. Click For Screencaps! (Download) (Download) (Download) (Download)

MTV's Making The Video: "We Want Fun" (10/?/02) - Lots of stuff in this one. AWK guitarist Erik Payne and his brother Tim, whose skate park construction company, Team Pain, built several of the ramps and such for "Jackass," are interviewed, and they show footage of Erik's ill-fated Jackass stunt. Other highlights include Andrew's classic tree-sitting line, "Tree... to the limit!" and Andrew lifting Butterbean up on his shoulders. The video premiered at the end.

MTV's Jackass Backyard BBQ (Movie Premiere) (10/?/02)- Is there a more infamous clip than Andrew getting zapped with a pair of clippers to his hair? The entire fandom went into convulsions. Even when it was verified that NO, none of Andrew's locks were harmed in the prank, some fans were still mad. There's actually not a lot of Andrew in this, but all of it is memorable, including Andrew throwing a couch and wrestling with Spike Jonez (who gets him into a good headlock). Don't fast forward through the non-Andrew parts, though: Lara Flynn-Boyle's duly rewarded diva act about the toilet facilities is hilarious.

MTV2's Most Controversial Frontmen (Co-hosted with Johnny Knoxville) (11/?/02)- Andrew and Johnny are like Laurel and Hardy in this - really, they are classic together. Andrew starts out as the straight man, trying to host a show, darnit, while Johnny snickers about Tommy Lee's penis. Somewhere along the line, the lines blur, as Johnny is confounded by Andrew's earnest explanation that "Fear of a Black Planet" is about people being afraid of the world burning up into a charred ball. The "Global Fire" reference makes this more than worth the price of admission.

MTV's Most Talked About Moments of 2002 (11/14/02) - Andrew's cornrows in "Crashing" made the cut.

The Osbournes (11/26/02) - Jack O. stalks Natalie Portman at the MTV Movie Awards, and we get to revisit the time she unknowingly snubbed Jack and Andrew (see MTV Movie Awards Post-Show).

CANADA:

Much Music - Much on Demand (?/?/02) - If the Jackass hair clippers thing is the most infamous AWK TV moment, this has to come in second. This is the show where Andrew is dared to eat dog food. Naturally, he does it without blinking an eye, and even shows that he's not a dog food wimp by scooping out and shoveling in a huge spoonful of it. Everything is fine until he realizes there's bone and cartilidge mixed in with the pasty meat, and for a second, he actaully turns green. You can see the gag reflex working, but he pulls through, and swallows it all. The sadistic hosts then offer him cat food, which is apparently fish based, and much easier to eat. He tops it off with a mint-flavored dog biscuit. People who poke fun at Canada should note that here in the US, we STILL don't have mint-flavored dog biscuits. (Download) (Download) (Download)

Much Music The New Music Show (?/?/02)- Topic #1 on this is how there are, like, NO girls whatsoever in the AWK scene. None. Well, maybe one or two, but that's it. OK, so this one comes off as a little dated. But it's good. (Download)

Much Music - Narduwar vs. AWK (?/?/02) - Wait, no. THIS is the most infamous AWK TV moment. I think it actually had a warning. This is the shit. I wish we had Narduwar in the States.

UK:

The UK Carling Awards (5/2/02)- Performed a full set, of which two songs, "Party Hard" and "Ready To Die" were used on the show. Great sound. The audio of this set is definitely in the top three for AWK bootlegs, In my opinion.

AUSTRALIA:

Rage (host) (?/?/02)- Andrew hosts a four hour video show, and this time he gets to pick the videos. Some of the videos you expect, some you totally don't. Like Shaq.

2003

USA

Axe House Party Special (4/13/03)- The premise is, a bunch of lucky winners in an online contest put on by Axe deoderant (who still send me e-mails) get to hang out at some big slamming crib, surrounded by girls in bikinis and entertained by live performaces by Nelly, AWK, and a few other bands. My friend Jenn was there, and you can see her in the AWK parts (she's wearing a Napalm Death t-shirt, not a bikini). If you get your hands on this, for the love of all that is holy, skip everything but the live music parts (which are awesome).

TNN's 100 Most Desirable Women (6/?/03) - Andrew was among the people commenting on celebrity women on this countdown special (TNN is now known as Spike TV). I haven't seen this. According to Elaine, he " Talke[ed] about how Jennifer Lopez changed the American ideal by drawing attention to the bottom istead of the top."

MTV Warped Tour 2003 coverage (7/14/03)- Some brief live AWK footage. Andrew talks for a long time about corn dogs, which are really good, it's true.

The Tom Green Show (8/25/03)- Andrew does a phone call to a fan live on the show. Andrew mailed him a pair of shoes. The guy got the shoes. I don't remember much else of this appearance.

IMX (9/9/03)- Taped on Wolf release day in the US, before the NYC show at Irving Plaza. Andrew answers questions from fans, including Jen (Ayaba is there as well). Dancing ensues.

MTV2's The Rock Show (co-hosted for a week of shows) (9/15-19?/03)- A full week of daily appearances (apparently filmed in one day). Andrew talks about the Wolf Kult when the host doesn't buy the "cool animal" answer about the album title and tells him he heard he named it after a group of fans. Andrew admits it and talks briefly about WOLF magazine and the Tribute CD(!). Exciting!

Conan O'Brien (11/14/03)- Most shocking live TV performance, as this is the first show where Ken plays as permanent replacement for Jimmy, without warning. How much of a surprise was it? I saw them play the night before with Jimmy, and had no idea it was his last show. (Download)

The Video Music Awards (performance) (12/5/03)- AWK does a medley of songs used in various video games, including "Party Hard," "Ready To Die," and "Tear It Up." Andrew was still in the wheelchair with a broken foot for this performance, so it both immortalizes that time period and allows fans who didn't get to see him live in the chair to experience it. (Download)

CANADA:

MTV Canada - Warped Tour Coverage (?/?/03) - Live Warped Tour Footage, plus Brian from "Select" (Canada's version of TRL) interviews Andrew. (Thanks to Brandy for the addition!)

Making of the "Never Let Down Video" (9?/?/03) - Behind the scenes of the NLD video. With French subtitles. Now I can say "over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over" in French!

Much Music: Loud (9?/?/03) - Andrew hosts this video show, around the time The Wolf release. In addition to the NLD video, he shows the video for Obituary's "Don't Care" and other metal videos. He pretty much dares you to question his metal creds as a non-straight-up-metal artist hosting the show, which is the highlight.

Much News (9?/?/03)- "Wolves! Everybody loves wolves! Or hates them, I guess...." So true, so true. Very enjoyable interview, longer than I expected, with live footage spliced in.

Much Music Combat Zone (9/?/03) - "The best episode of the Combat Zone of all time." I didn't say it, the Combat dude Brad said it. It's the only episode of Combat Zone I've seen, but I have to say, no truer words have been spoken in the history of the world. This is a really fun appearance, and educational, too. This was shot on September 7, apparently, since they said The Wolf was coming out in two days.
