What can I say? Building up to Ozzfest. About a month prior, I bought "I Get Wet". I couldn't stop playing it. A good friend of mine, Nick Catanese of BLS, was also on the Ozzfest bill. I kept asking him 2 questions, "How can I meet Rob Zombie?" and "How can I meet Andrew WK?" I wasn't interested in seeing any of the other acts and there wasn't anybody else I wanted to do meet than those two. Day of Ozzefest, Post-Gazette Pavillion, I get there. I had to go back to my car, because I tried to bring a blanket in (fire hazzard at previous Ozzfests). My friends went in ahead of me, while I headed back to the car parked in Timbuktoo. By the time I got back, I almost had to go back to my car again because of my mace on my key ring. Screw it! I took it off and threw it away. I didn't want to miss much more and the security person who sent me back for the blanket should've told me about the mace too. As I set out to find my friends towards the second stage. I wasn't paying attention to anything but trying to locate my buds. All the sudden, I heard the familar robotic voice, "Let's get the party started..." So I said to myself screw them, I'm not missing Andrew. It was his last song! All because of a stupid rule of not bringing in a stupid blanket and having to go back to my car I missed all of Andrew's show except for one song!!! I was not having a good start at Ozzfest. I then saw the signing booths set up of to the side, and thought I could at least get the chance to meet Andrew. I stood in his line for 2 hours and I was the 10th person in line. People were just coming up from all sides to just be near him. I admired his dedication to all his fans. When it was my turn to finally meet him he was just all smiles, shook my hand and gave me a hug before I could ask him. The newspaper described the smile as "belonging to the Chesshire Cat." I told him of my plight of missing his show, but that I saw he was coming back on Aug. 14 on the Warped Tour. He encouraged that I be there. He signed the shirt I just bought with a paragraph which makes you feel closer and like a friend, 2 stickers with just his signature (for my friends who didn't want to wait in line), and my belly. He gave me another hug. I told him thank you and that I will see him at the Warped Tour.
