December 13th at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit with Uncle Murray.
Why do I have to get lost wherever I drive? Detroit needs more signs! Our tickets never said obstructed view but we had those wires right in front of us connecting the co2 to the confetti. No big deal. Uncle Murray is 46 and doesn't know a lot about Andrew WK. Andrew played a great 8 song set as usual, it was fantastic. All Uncle Murray said was that he was exhausted from watching, haha. Aerosmith was great too but I went for AWK. Also this drunk girl grabbed my butt. Moving on......
December 14th at Howards in Bowling Green Ohio with Ultimate Anthony, Courtney and Sarah.
DUDE IT'S FREEZING were my first words at this place. haha. Two girls were there from the London show. They went bowling with Gregg that day, pretty rad. One of them was the one I had wanted to "marry" earlier but Anthony moved in for the kill. Good for him, they both live in Dearborn! I'll touch briefly on the opening bands because it's definitely worth mentioning. Gil Mantera's party dream was the strangest funniest thing I had ever seen. 2 guys, 2 keyboards, and pink spandex and thermal underwear. Need I say more? These guys could be comedians if they wanted! Shi Halued was up next and the crowd got violent. They're good at what they do though. AWK hits the stage at 11:15 or so and plays the entire I get wet album and we want fun of course. The crowd was so crazy the barrier broke at the front of the stage and we really had to protect ourselves. I'm just glad I got to hear "Got to do it" live. After the show I needed water bad and the barkeep girl said she'd hose me down. So I lean my head over the bar. Then no hose. Where's the hose she promised me? Then I look up and she blasts me right in the face. How refreshing. (Shameless plug: www.The313.com) And now, I've saved the best for last.....
December 15th at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids with Ultimate Anthony, G-Baby, Rachel, Holly, and Jen.
The drive from Bowling Green to Grand Rapids was rough, but it was worth every drop of gas. At this time Anthony's Jimmy John's sub count is 9. We arrive early and decide to eat at TGIF's. Thank God we decided to. We unloaded our extra 2 tickets on the first person we asked, this cute little waitress named Holly. 7:30pm Andrew hits the stage and the 4 of us at the time go crazy. We were the only ones standing up and partying during his set and we loved it. G-Baby was especially out of control and Rachel was right on cue with her We Want Fun and we want to get "WASTED". Haha. Aerosmith plays 3 songs before Holly and Jen arrive. I had to fight Anthony to get the seat next to Holly. As if this guy needs MORE women. He's a regular Crazy Carl. Anyway we have a great time except for the ace clown that spilled beer on my Motley Crue shirt. Holly was also nice enough to exchange numbers and email addresses with a guy who hadn't showered in 2 days (You couldn't pay me to use Steve's shower. Once finished I would need another shower! What a vicious circle). So we'll see how that goes. My favorite Andrew WK song is She is Beautiful and now I think of her when I hear it. Am I a nut? Of course. Haven't you been reading this? Too bad the pretty ones live so far away. Now it's time to go back to the monotonous routine of corporate jabroni.
